Post-Secondary Vocational School for Ages 18-22

Arc Broward's School of Hire Education is an exciting opportunity for eligible Broward County students with developmental disabilities ages 18 to 22, to obtain career/workforce education, community-based instruction, and independent living skills. A unique option for post-secondary students, the school provides students with opportunities to prepare them for a career after high school. 

Eligible students must have opted to defer receipt of their standard high school diploma from the Broward County Public Schools and live within the geographic boundaries of the following high schools: Taravella, Piper, Coconut Creek, Coral Glades, Coral Springs, Monarch, Stoneman Douglas, and Plantation. Days of operation follow the Broward County Public School calendar. Tuition and transportation are free of charge to eligible Broward County school students living in certain areas. Instructional hours are from 8:30 a.m. to-2:30 p.m. Classroom instruction and most vocational track trainings are provided at the Sunrise school campus. Community-based instruction is provided numerous times weekly at various employment sites in Broward County. 

Students are presented with four vocational track choices and are assisted by their support team to help design curriculum based on their goals and career path interests. Vocational tracks include:

  • Entry-Level Culinary Arts
  • Child and/or Elder Care
  • Office/Clerical Work

School of Hire Education is funded primarily by the School Board of Broward County. Referral sources include teachers, ESE Specialists, community case managers, and by word of mouth.
