The Parents as Teachers (PAT) program is an early childhood parent education and family support program designed to empower parents to give their children with special needs the best possible start in life. The goal of our program is to help young children grow up healthy, safe and ready to learn. It operates as an in-home program for children ages birth through 10 and helps parents improve their children’s development. The program includes a combination of personal visits in the family home and in natural community settings, parent workshops, and other coordinated family activities.
Nationally-certified parent educators help families advance the development of their young children through activities that encourage language, intellectual growth and academic readiness, social and motor skills, and strengthens the parent’s relationship with the child. The program also provides enrolled families with case management, mental health counseling, and applied behavior analysis services as needed. Our program operates as a network affiliate of the internationally recognized Parents as Teachers program.
The program is primarily funded through the Children’s Services Council of Broward County with additional support from United Way of Broward County.
