Active play is a critical part of childhood – it builds children’s minds and bodies. It helps them socialize. But for many children with disabilities, standard playgrounds are not accessible and do not meet their physical or social needs. Our goal at Arc Broward, where we change perspectives and change lives, is to create an outdoor active play space that will be accessible to all children of all ability levels.
The Arc Broward Outdoor Fitness Zone and Playground will serve approximately 200 children with severe autism and behavior disorders. The space, designed with children with disabilities in mind, will provide accessible opportunities for active play, including programs to combat childhood obesity, while meeting the unique social needs of our children.
Bringing the accessible playground to life is absolutely possible, but only with your help. Together, we will transform the lives of these children, creating opportunities for health and happiness. Individuals and corporations with gifts of $500 or more will be recognized on our Donor Wall, a permanent playground structure to thank those who came together to help our kids.
