Arc Broward is honored to be selected as one of four distinguished recipients of a capital grant from the Mary N. Porter Legacy Fund. Through a highly competitive selection process, Arc Broward presented their intended application for the grant which includes the build-out and equipping of approximately 8,000 square feet of culinary facilities on the Arc Broward Regional Campus, where individuals with disabilities receive hands-on training and vocational certifications in food service.
This expansion will allow Arc Broward to increase the number of students who enroll in and complete the entry level culinary arts program, and ultimately obtain employment in the industry, which is a benchmark, and perpetual objective, of Arc Broward’s work in the community.
The Traveling Plate Returns with All New Chef Lineup

Arc Broward is excited to announce the return of their pop up supper club, the Traveling Plate. The Traveling Plate gives students of Arc Culinary the opportunity to work with local chefs in an unexpected venue to provide a unique dining experience for guests of the event.
The Traveling Plate will kick off their first summer installation on Thursday, July 20th at the historic Fort Lauderdale Fire Museum in Sailboat Bend and will feature a family-style culinary presentation from Chef Philip Darmon of Hardy Park Bistro. Students from Arc Culinary will work with the Hardy Park team to prep, cook, and serve the meal giving them the hands on experience the program has come to be known for. Wine pairings for each course have been generously donated by Jackson Family Wines.
Culinary Arts Certificate and Material Handler Students Celebrate Graduation

On Wednesday, July 12, students in two of Arc Broward’s nationally accredited career preparation programs – Culinary Arts and Material Handler – will celebrate their graduation.
The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. in The Grand Ballroom at the Sunrise Civic Center, 10610 West Oakland Park Blvd., Sunrise, FL 33351.
Preschool and School of HIRE Education Graduation Ceremonies are June 7

Both ceremonies will be held at the Sunrise Civic Center Theatre with the Preschool commencement beginning at 5 p.m., and the School of HIRE Education at 6:30 p.m. A reception for the graduates and supporters will follow each ceremony. Celebrating its 60th Anniversary, Arc Broward, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services to children and adults with disabilities and other life challenges, has supported students as they’ve work to reach their fullest potential.

The new brand mark features the signature arc turned upside down to reflect not only a smile, but an allusion to their goal of changing the community’s perception of children, adults, and seniors living with disabilities.

The grant will help fund Arc Broward’s new WorkBar, a vibrant and innovative career resource center where community members with disabilities can pursue their career goals, network with members of the business community, attend classes and seminars, and receive help from professionally training career and financial literacy specialists.
Arc Educates is proud to announce the promotion of Hector Manon as the new Director overseeing the mission-based enterprise of Arc Broward, a non-profit organization that is transforming the community by providing opportunities for people with disabilities and other life challenges to realize their full potential. As Director, he is responsible for the overall operation of the Learning Institute, including the two post educational programs, Entry-Level Culinary Arts Certificate and DS PATHS, and educational/training opportunities for agency staff and professionals throughout the community.

Arc Broward Expands to Flagler Arts Village

Arc Broward is expanding to Flagler Arts Village with WorkBar, a space that provides Arc Broward members with a vibrant and innovative space where they can pursue career goals, network with members of the business community, attend classes and seminars and receive help from professionally trained career and financial literacy specialists. The space will also serve as a resource for workplace diversification training for businesses to learn how to leverage the skills of those with disabilities and ensure a smooth transition of Arc Broward members into the workforce.
