Adult Services

Adult Day Programs

Arc Broward offers a continuum of quality day services to adults with developmental disabilities. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to live the most fulfilling, social and active life possible. We currently operate three day programs which provide individualized support for adults, including those with complex behavioral needs or those who are aging. Eligible participants are funded through the State Developmental Disabilities Medicaid Waiver program although individuals are also able to attend on a private fee basis.

Cornerstone Program

Previously known as our Lifeskills program, the focus of the Cornerstone Program is life skills including development, increased self-sufficiency, volunteerism, and community participation. Participants work with staff to choose and design a unique set of activities to meet their needs and interests.

Intensive Behavior Supports Program

The focus of the Intensive Behavior Supports Program is to help adults with developmental disabilities overcome severe behavioral challenges by providing opportunities for them to reduce or eliminate maladaptive behaviors while increasing adaptive skills. Individuals enrolled in this program require an intensive level of intervention and support.

Older Adult Day Program

Exclusively for adults age 40 and older, the Older Adult Day Program is designed to provide a superior quality of life for older adults with developmental disabilities in an attractive, safe and welcoming environment. The program is dedicated to accommodating the choices, interests and abilities of each individual. A licensed practical nurse and direct support professionals closely monitor the health and daily needs of each individual. While acquisition of new skills is encouraged, annual goals for clients are more typically focused on retaining previously acquired skills, maximizing mobility, maintaining health and wellness, and overall quality of day-to-day life. Direct support professionals receive additional training to best serve the needs of the aging population. community living

Residential placement is a solution for families who can no longer meet the supervision and support needs of their family member with a developmental disability. Arc Broward understands this and offers individuals, families and guardians support in a variety of settings. For more than 30 years, we have offered residential services that are designed to meet the specific needs of each resident.

Group Homes

Arc Broward owns and operates five group homes located in single family neighborhoods throughout Broward County, Florida. These attractive, well-maintained homes provide residence for six adults. Trained and dedicated staff assist the residents to be active participants in their homes and communities. Varied opportunities are provided for skill development in areas such as socialization, activities of daily living, medication administration, self-care skills and community integration. The residents take an active role in the maintenance of the house. The residents also receive health care supports from our nursing staff and case management from our social services team, as well as a variety of other services as needed.

Intermediate Care Facility

Barc Housing is a 36-bed intermediate care facility located in Davie, Florida. It is managed by the Arc Broward Adult Services Division. Barc Housing provides a comprehensive array of intensive specialized services, including but not limited to nursing, dietary, pharmacological, psychiatric, psychological, behavioral therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy to 36 individuals with developmental disabilities who also have severe behavioral challenges, psychiatric disorders and/or significant functional skill impairments.
