Arc Broward is excited to announce the return of their pop up supper club, the Traveling Plate. The Traveling Plate gives students of Arc Culinary the opportunity to work with local chefs in an unexpected venue to provide a unique dining experience for guests of the event. The Traveling Plate will kick off their first summer installation on Thursday, July 20th at the historic Fort Lauderdale Fire Museum in Sailboat Bend and will feature a family-style culinary presentation from Chef Philip Darmon of Hardy Park Bistro. Students from Arc Culinary will work with the Hardy Park team to prep, cook, and serve the meal giving them the hands on experience the program has come to be known for. Wine pairings for each course have been generously donated by Jackson Family Wines.

On Wednesday, July 12, students in two of Arc Broward’s nationally accredited career preparation programs – Culinary Arts and Material Handler – will celebrate their graduation. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. in The Grand Ballroom at the Sunrise Civic Center, 10610 West Oakland Park Blvd., Sunrise, FL 33351.

Both ceremonies will be held at the Sunrise Civic Center Theatre with the Preschool commencement beginning at 5 p.m., and the School of HIRE Education at 6:30 p.m. A reception for the graduates and supporters will follow each ceremony. Celebrating its 60th Anniversary, Arc Broward, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services to children and adults with disabilities and other life challenges, has supported students as they’ve work to reach their fullest potential.

Arc Tech “Mom” Feels Right at Home

She then left. Fourteen years later, Arlene realized how much she missed the nonprofit organization and was hired in her current role. It’s been another three years, and this self-proclaimed “mother,” being the only female on the Arc Tech team, has no plans on leaving again. She’s feels right at home.

Superstar in the IT Asset Industry

For nearly six years as Arc Tech's IT Supervisor, Renald has led by example, continued to learn his craft and mentored numerous young adults enrolled in Arc Broward’s Material Handler Program. A native of Haiti, Renald moved to the United States in 2008. He has several years of college experience, mostly in electronic engineering in Haiti, the Dominican Republic and from Broward College and Atlantic Technology College in South Florida. He also has his A+ and Microsoft Refurbishing certifications.

Pedro and Miguel: A One-In-A-Million Pair

In 1968, when Pedro and Miguel were born, their family had a double surprise - that they were twins and boys! Then, several hours later, they received word from the doctor that their twin boys had Down syndrome. Soon later, a nurse at the hospital told the family to "put them away and forget about them because all they would bring us was heartache." But Pedro and Miguel's family would never dream of doing such a thing to the sons that they had longed for and completed their family.
