Counseling for people with or without disabilities
and their families from therapists who are specially attuned to their unique
issues. Counseling in Sign Language is available for people with hearing
and communication disorders. ARC Broward has developed mental health services
which are specifically designed to serve the needs of individuals with
developmental disabilities and their families. The purpose of this program
is to enhance the quality of life for individuals and their families through
direct therapeutic treatment of mental disorders. This program also provides
home-based intervention and public education.
Mental Health services are provided for the treatment
of certain psychological conditions including but not limited to depression,
mood disorders, anxiety disorders, disassociative disorders, sexual and other
gender identity disorders, eating disorders, sleeping disorders, impulse
control disorders, adjustment disorders, personality disorders, and other
conditions that impact the mental health of the individuals served. The Mental
Health program maintains a clinical staff of licensed social workers, mental
health therapists, nurses and behavior analysts. |
Therapy staff is highly qualified in a vast array
of treatment modalities. Under the supervision of a licensed therapist and
prescribed by a physician, these therapies will generally produce functional
outcomes in muscle control, ambulation, postural development, as well as,
maximize range of motion, oral and fine motor skills. |
Licensed Speech/Language Pathologists provide
speech/language services as prescribed by a physician. Individuals with a
speech, language, communication, swallowing and/or hearing disability are
evaluated and provided treatments that will achieve specific, functional
communication goals. |
