Early Intervention & Infant Stimulation

This program is designed to enhance early childhood development through therapeutic games, activities and interaction in a stimulating environment.

Preschool Education & Developmental Training

Certified teachers with a low teacher/student ratio. Full day, year round instructional curriculum offers a full range of activities and therapies to facilitate growth for children with and without special needs. ARC Broward, Inc. operates a developmental preschool for children ages' birth through 5 years old. Classroom teams lead by Florida State Certified Teachers conduct comprehensive developmental assessments during the first thirty days of enrollment and annually thereafter. In addition, licensed Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists provide screenings and evaluations if deemed necessary and prescribed by a physician. Following the assessment and evaluation period, the child's person-centered team meets and develops a plan of goals and long and short-term objectives designed to further the child's independent functioning and developmental growth.

Classrooms are designed and structured to create an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Classroom structure includes individual and small group active and passive activities and multi-sensory learning opportunities. A basic curriculum is developed and implemented for each classroom that incorporates individualized education and training. Activities and learning experiences target development of communication skills, socialization skills, self-help skills, fine and gross motor skills and cognitive skills. The program operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Extended Care is available between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Specialized After-School Program for Children (ABLE)

The Alternative Behavioral Learning Environment (ABLE) is a program that provides behavior intervention for children between the ages of 6 and 21 who are unable to stay at home after school without significant family disruption and who cannot participate in other available programs due to their behavior issues.

Respite Care

Respite services offers families the opportunity to attend to other responsibilities while arrangements are made for their child or adult to attend day programs or stay overnight in a residential setting. Specialized In-Home Respite Services for children are available. ARC Broward's Respite Care program provides behavioral respite services to children ages 3 through 18 years of age who are diagnosed with autism or related disorders. Supportive care and supervision is provided to the child when the primary care giver is unable to perform these duties due to a planned brief absence, an emergency absence or when the caregiver is available but unable to care for or supervise the individual for a brief period.

In-Home Parents As Teachers Program (PAT)

ARC Broward's Parents as Teachers program is a behavioral parent-training program, which includes family education and support that begins at birth and extends through age 5. The program is based on the belief that parents are their children's first and most influential teachers and that the early years lay the foundation for children's success in school and in life.

Summer Camp

ARC Broward operates Kamp Krayola for children ages 3 to 14 with certain behavioral challenges. It  is more fully described under our Behavioral Healthcare Services Division.

Transitional Services - Youth Links

ARC Broward's Youth Links program provides individual advocacy services to targeted students and their families. Advocacy services include the instruction of self-advocacy and self-determination training for students; the education of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and its legal and practical implications for parents; the active participation of "Transition Advocates" at IEP meetings for students; and mediation of grievances against public or private providers when rights have been violated. The Youth Links staff participates in the local Interagency Council for the Disabled.
